Back from the tranny shop. We managed to save the case and the dipstick. The rest of it was FUBAR. So now I’ve got 4 gears and a warranty, and a lot less cash. Fair trade.
Shown with awesome but temporary wheels. 255s don’t even come close to filling up the enormous wheelwells.
Houston, we are go for audio:
Nothing fancy, but it works, and it’s simple to use. Sounds good enough for my old deaf ears. I think one of the factory door speakers let go, kind of buzzy.
Raining today, so the rest of it will have to wait. At least I got the “indoor” stuff done.

I like the wheels.
If I ever win the lotto I’d love to have something like this.

The stereo almost looks as if it’s always belong there :)
Did you put in a whole new (or reman) trans unit or did you repair the one you had? Your year CV had the AOD trans, right? Any difficulty finding parts, since it’s getting up there in years?

I wonder if you can get a vintage looking head unit with modern features for this car. I know they make 50s/60s style ones, not sure about 80s style.
I think the slotted wheels look fine.

I tried to find true vintage style, this is the closest I could come to it. A little too modern, but not glaringly so.

Technically, it’s an AOD-E with electronic control. I picked it up after hours so I didn’t get a chance to talk to the tech, but will today. I got billed for a 2019 reman, but it could be that they built it there. Old shop with tons of AOD parts in stock.

Update: It was rebuilt with my case & dipstick, and damn little else. All the guts are the new/improved parts that fix the AOD’s problems, or most of them. More clutches, better drums, improved filter, new torque converter etc.

At noon I need to disconnect the battery. It’s the only way to set the clock, since the buttons don’t seem to work.
